Welcome to Sweden’s first city - Stockholm Airport City, a place where millions of business travellers, tourists and returning citizens take their first step on Swedish soil every year. Stockholm Airport City is a natural step towards satisfying the needs of a developing world. Big cities, so called ‘Airport Cities’ are increasingly developing near big airports. The flights themselves are of course one explanation, but there are other reasons.

Accessibility is good and the infrastructure is adapted to make travel to and from the area easy and flexible. Time is also an important factor. Passengers always want to reduce the transfer time between hotels, meetings and shopping centres. Lack of time is also one of the reasons why the demand for services and products nearby is increasing. Stockholm Arlanda Airport is Sweden’s biggest airport, and it is the obvious location for creating the first Airport City in the country. Every year, more than 17.5 million passengers pass through Arlanda. Besides the 16,500 people working at the airport itself, there are a further 3,500 working within Arlandastad, the area just south of the airport.
